The First Responder Whiskey Society has partnered with The El Monte Police Officers Association to release this memorial whisky bottle for fallen Sergeant Michael Paredes and Officer Joseph Santana.

Sergeant Michael Paredes and Police Officer Joseph Santana were shot and killed in the line of duty. They responded to a domestic violence call of a possible stabbing between a boyfriend and girlfriend. When they arrived at the hotel room, they were met with gunfire. The subject fled into the parking lot, and responding officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect.

Sergeant Paredes and Officer Santana were raised in the city of El Monte and had a strong connection to the community they served.

Sergeant Paredes started his law enforcement career as a Cadet with the El Monte Police Department, before being sworn in as a Full-Time Police Officer in July of 2000. During his time at the El Monte Police Department, Sergeant Paredes worked several specialized assignments before being appointed to the assignment of Corporal and Sergeant posthumously. Sergeant Paredes is survived by his wife, daughter, and son.

Officer Santana started his service with the City of El Monte as a part-time Public Works Employee. After 6 years of service, he began his law enforcement career with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff where he served for approximately three years. He concluded his career with the sheriff’s department to accept a position as a police officer with the city of El Monte, returning to his hometown to serve the community he grew up in. Officer Santana is survived by his wife, daughter, and twin boys.

Sergeant Paredes and Officer Santana paid the ultimate sacrifice, while in performance of a noble profession, serving the community they loved.  A portion of the new proceeds to FRWS from the sales of this bottle will be going back to support the families.

This memorial bottle of whiskey was created by Liberty Call Distilling in San Diego California. The company is Marine owned and a friend to all first responders. The bottle boasts superior quality work compared to other engravings because it is sandblasted, not just etched. The whiskey is a delicious straight bourbon aged a minimum of 3 years, then double aged for a minimum of 6 months in small charred oak barrels.

The bottles can be shipped across the United States except for the restricted states of Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Utah.
