The Grand Detour Pinot Noir was sourced from Landmark’s historic Hop Kiln Estate on Westside Road. Crafting this wine from Estate fruit gives winemaker, Greg Stach, opportunities to select his favorite blocks with unique grape and rootstock combinations. Working closely with Estate Vineyard Manager, David Smith, we were able to harvest the fruit at optimum timing while employing our best practices in the vineyard.
Delivering the hand-harvested and field sorted grapes to the winery in the early morning hours retains the integrity and desired characteristics of the fruit. The 2018 growing season at Hop Kiln was without the intense heat event experienced in 2017 therefore producing grapes of great sugar to acid balance, leading to a rich and balanced wine for your enjoyment.
