The First Responder Whiskey Society has partnered with the Lemoore Police Department to release this memorial whiskey bottle for fallen Officer Elmer Jonathan Diaz. 100% of the net proceeds to FRWS from this bottle will go to his family.
Police Officer Jonathan Diaz was shot and killed while intervening in a domestic violence incident while off duty.
He was attending a birthday party at a home on Eddy Street, near Carolyn Avenue, in Hanford when another partygoer was violently assaulted by her boyfriend. Officer Diaz was able to move the woman outside to safety and then returned to the home to de-escalate the incident.
The subject who assaulted the woman was an investigator for another local agency. As Officer Diaz re-entered the home the man opened fire, killing Officer Diaz and wounding his own father. The subject then killed himself.
Officer Diaz had served with the Lemoore Police Department for three years and had previously served with the Huron Police Department for three years. He is survived by three children, parents, and three siblings.
Officer Diaz was the recipient of his agency’s 2018 Officer of the Year award.
This memorial bottle of whiskey has been created by Liberty Call Distilling in San Diego California. The company is marine owned and a friend to all first responders. The bottle boasts superior quality work compared to other engravings because it is sandblasted, not just etched. The whiskey is a delicious straight bourbon aged a minimum of 3 years, then double aged for a minimum of 6 months in small charred oak barrels. 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the memorial bottles will go to Officer Diaz’s family.
The bottles can be shipped across the United States except for the restricted states of Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Utah.
